Never Again...

Never again will I go to a WWE show for any reason beyond seeing a big name I haven't yet. The Bangor house show was absolutely terrible, from top to bottom. There were only two exceptions. I'll start with those.

Seeing Paul London and the three Mexicools live was fucking great. One of the greats of early ROH and three classics of American lucha libre. Though this was the worst London match I've ever seen, it was still great because I saw him. But since this was a house show I was seeing the super-low-energy version. This was low-low-low end London, London with his spirits dead. But he was there, and he's on my list.

The other highlight was the highlight of the night, Eddie Guerrero vs Rey Mysterio. This was a street fight so Eddie was in his jeans and not wrestling gear. This match was actually a decent, ECW style match. They worked through the crowd, then beat each other down around and in the ring. They made excellent use of the chair, logically working it into the match. By the end of the match, Eddie had bladed and he was fucking bloody. Corino bloody. The mat was stained since he was face down a couple of times. Great stuff here, and really showed you how much these two care about the business since they'll even turn it on for house shows.

Now the rest... oh god the rest. Matches varying from 2 minutes to 8 minutes at most. We were only like 9-10 minutes late and we missed the opening match and half the second match. Worthless show. Even the four way with Benoit, Christian, Booker and that other black guy was bad. Terrible logic, just a bunch of rest holds and finishers. Oh and the triple germans, gotta love those triple germans. The Boogeyman was there, oh god I wanted to laugh at how bad this gimmick seems. A guy in leather pants with facepaint. Oooh I'm shaking like Jacko trying to restrain himself in a preschool. Terrible. Matches not even worth talking about for the most part. Regal vs Scotty, Richards vs Boogeyman, Heidenreich and Animal vs MNM (who both sold like fucking crazy). Real stacked card huh?

The main event was JBL vs Batista. JBL came out and said shit that made me shake in anger, you don't know how much I wanted to run down there and cut his foot off. He is what is wrong with wrestling. A jobber that became king in one week. Absolute bullshit. But it will only get worse with Lesnar coming back... anyway we stayed to see the Trips Belt on Deacon Bautista and then we left, feeling thoroughly ripped off. We had to pay for admission PLUS the price of the ticket. Fucking E, fucking Bangor State Fair.

I'll update my wrestler count list, which is now exclusively my own sadly. I should probably include the guys from the Legends of Wrestling tour, but I can't remember who was there since it happened 2 years ago.

Fuck the E.

Stacked Roster My Ass

And Ring of Honor loses two more big names. James Gibson and Spanky are going back to the E. The very two that had a "screw sports entertainment" match. Might I be the first to say... WHAT THE FUCK! Why is Spanky, who apparently hated it there, going back? I guess we get to see London & Spanky team again. Gibson is finally off the 'roids of the ster variety, so he gets another chance to be a hick. He really has proved himself this past year to be a great talent, but he's got money on the mind.

Now ROH is going to suffer. Most of their main eventers are leaving or gone. Few new ones are emerging. Considering all of these losses they'll only have Joe, Ki, Cide and Aries. Rave, Shelley and Cabana are slightly below that. With Joe doing his TNA thing and Ki in Japan, ROH is looking weak. I'm worried, I smell a Kevin Steen push around the corner.

With Gibson leaving, I thought he was the strongest contender to take the title off Punk but now he can't be the one. It won't be Daniels or Joe, they're both too involved in TNA right now and the X division. Cabana? No way. Vacate and put it on the line at Survival of the Fittest in Boston? YES!

Ah well, fuck the E.

Mr. Number 7

Lance Armstrong made it 7 Tour de France victories in a row by winning the competition on Sunday.

It's hard not to say he's the greatest athlete perhaps ever. When you come off of surviving cancer in most of your body to force yourself to win one of the most grueling races in the world, well maybe then you can be considered the greatest as well. Those Texans.

Though I'm noone to say he's the greatest, since I don't follow most sports and can't really compare him to anyone. And even then I only know American sports and American leagues. So greatest ever? Maybe, but that's not my call. I'm just saying that this guy once bossed around the King of Norway.

So enjoy your retirement Mr. Armstrong, you've earned it.

Maybe I can be a legendary athlete. World champion barrel-jumper? A man can dream, a man can dream...

NOAH knows best

Pro Wrestling NOAH ran it's Tokyo Dome show, it's most important show of the year, this past Monday. This was without a doubt a success in every single way, from match quality to crowd draw. With the blunder made the very same day by NJPW, it is now clear which company is the strongest and it isn't the strong style. Drawing a massive number of nearly 55,000 fans at the Tokyo Dome, much better than any recent New Japan show, let's us see clearly that NOAH just has it going on. Epic matches were all over the card from the middle to the top.

At the very top we were treated to Mitsuharu Misawa vs Toshiaki Kawada for the first time in years. These two haven't been able to lock up since the exodus from AJPW in 2001. Now that they have again they both proved they can still go and they can still draw. This match was blistering, both fired up from the get go. They elbowed and kicked each other into mush. Monster moves were hit on both men as two of the deadliest moves ever made their returns, the Ganso Bomb and the Tiger Driver '91. These two still sacrafice their bodies, and that is great because you rarely see anyone of the same experience doing anything NEAR what they were doing at their peak over here. Maybe Naich in '01. Anyway I hope Kawada stays in NOAH so we get a Holy Demon Army reunion. Kawada & Taue vs Misawa & Kobashi? Oh please!

KENTA vs Yoshinobu Kanemaru was quite good. KENTA was really fired up and you could tell he was putting his soul out there to shine in his first major singles victory. After being a brilliant tag team wrestler for years, he really deserved to see what he could do as a singles guy. He even had me marking for that dreadful Busaiku Knee Kick by the end of this match.

The GHC Tag Title match of Marufuji & MiSuzuki vs Akiyama & Hashi was decent as well. Though it was outshined by some true classics on this card, it showed that Marufuji could hang with the heavyweights and that Akiyama was by no means done as he managed to lose in style.

Tenryu vs Ogawa sucked, this was no dream match it didn't need to be so high on the card. I don't know what Misawa's deal with Ogawa is. Thankfully short.

Takeshi Rikio defended his GHC Heavyweight Championship against Hiroshi Tanahashi, craftfully playing the heel by wearing a NJPW flag to the ring. This match was ok, but it didn't display the full potential of Tanahashi who I think is the best young heavyweight in Japan today. The future of New Japan is Tanahashi, and CHInoki bom-ba-ye needs to realize that. However, Rikio is NOT the future of NOAH, Misawa needs to realize that. I would've liked a surprise title change here, but that would've been a very poor move.

Then we get to the true match of the night. A match that came as the second main event, the first ever singles meeting of Kenta Kobashi and Kensuke Sasaki. This match was simply epic in every sense of the word. Those that question whether Kobashi still has it need to look at this masterpiece. This match started off in style as the two pounded each other and hit big moves, then fought their way outside. Once back inside they began a 5 minute chop battle where they proceeded to chop the ever loving SHIT out of each other. I started feeling the pain as every single chop, EVERY SINGLE, hit with the same bone shattering force. They didn't hold back in any sense, they stiffed the hell out of each other! Don't tell them this shit is fake. Massive bruises started to form by the end of the match. After the chop battle they started murdering each other with power moves. This match was back and forth, neither man would go down and neither would give up. They worked each other perfectly, they drew me in. I didn't know what would happen, I just went along with it as they danced their dance of battle. In the end a massive series of Burning Lariats ended Sasaki and orange crush Kenta Kobashi walked out with the victory as his classic Grand Sword Second music played.

NOAH did everything perfectly and they seem to be set for the near future, as long as they get a new champion soon they don't have much to worry about.

New Japan on the other hand... well I've heard all but the most diehard, WWE-like fans denounce their decisions. And you'd have to be foolishly grasping on to this dying company to approve of their decision to destroy Tenzan by taking the belt off him AGAIN. This Black New Japan vs Team JAPAN vs Regular Army bullshit is trite and way overdone. We've seen it before, blah blah. Kazayuki Fujita is a two time failure as champion, and with this reign he's sealed the title belt. Fujita is taking the role that the late Shinya Hashimoto was supposed to play, the defender against the new generation. But with new generation leader Tanahashi seemingly out of the G1 and old generation leader Hashimoto dead, where does this leave the plan to move to the next generation? They were going to do something similar with Bob Sapp last year, have the monster gaijin be unbeatable until a solid next generation worker could beat him and become loved by the people, but then Bob Sapp ran away and ruined it. New Japan can't get a break, they can't draw.

Out with New Japan, in with NOAH.
Rant over.

Bangor House Show

Here is the card for the Bangor house show, subject to change of course. Like, god willing, JBL dies then the main event would be something better.

Batista vs. JBL - Total blah match, I doubt we'll even stay to watch. Totally worthless, terrible match with one wrestler I hate more than death and a half-filipino.

Chris Benoit vs. Muhammad Hassan w/ Daivari - Well it's Benoit, so we'll see the standard Benoit match. Plus I can cheer for Muhammad and see if I come out alive!

Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero - YES YES YES YES YES! How great a matchup this is, although it's fast becoming an overused match. Every single Smackdown and PPV they fight, but this has to be worth something. Plus I get to see these two fight. YES!

Christian vs. Orlando Jordan - Hey it's Christian.

Hardcore Holly & Booker T vs. MNM - Throwaway match, at this point I'll probably still be excited about...

Paul London vs. Fuanki vs. Juventud - Holy emu shit! We get to see this glorious match. Look at that lineup. Paul London is undoubtedly one of the best talents the WWE has right now. Juventud is a spectacular wrestler that has proven on MANY occasions he is an incredible talent. Funaki is Japanese. What a match. THIS is the reason I would go.

William Regal vs. Bobby Lashley - Standard OVW crap with Regal thrashing the rookie.

Nunzio & Vito LaGrasso vs. Psicosis & Super Crazy - PSICOSIS! SUPER CRAZY! I KNEW that we would see them. Oh god bless the cruiserweights. Nunzio is ok, but Vito sucks. Why the fuck was he hired when some real talent (Haas) was fired?

That's the current lineup we've got. Not that many matches, so hopefully we'll have longer match times. No really big names on this show to go for, like Undertaker. But the cruiserweights more than make up for it. Some of the real talents that I've never seen are going to be there. So like Ultimo Dragon, I'm once again probably going to go to a house show for the big name cruiserweights. London, Juvi, Crazy and Psicosis.

Somebody give me a damn job

Over half of my summer is over, and I haven't got a job anywhere. And let me tell you it's not from a lack of trying. I've had a couple of go-nowhere interviews, but generally nothing else. I had an early start and that didn't matter, I'd work any hours and that didn't matter. I've never had another job, boy does that matter. Now we don't even get the paper so I can't check the help wanted section. I'm gonna have to give up and get a shit job at a fast food place. No, no I won't ever do that. But even THEY make money. How can I have a future if I have no money? How can I have money if I don't have a job? I can't. If I don't get one before school starts, let's pray that doesn't happen, I'll try getting one at school again. That Kohl's place MUST be opening soon right? I'm desperate, well not Bob Saget desperate he sucked dick for coke, but I am quite desperate. I'm bored and I feel like an abysmal failure, which may stem from the fact that I could actually be an abysmal failure.

I just looked at my academic record, and it seems like come next spring and graduation time I may be a mere 3 credits short of graduating. THREE. That's the equivilant of ONE class. If I'd have known that a couple months ago I would've taken a summer class and that's that, but I didn't. Unless I take 20 credits per semester, which is not allowed, I will not graduate on time. I think I have enough History classes to qualify for a minor in History, which would be quite dandy. God, that's my specialty!

School, work. Work, school. These topics are all too serious for me. So's I'll shut's my's mouth's now's.

International readership value up to 6! Go France, England and Japan!

Matt Hardy... GENIUS

Last night's Raw was absolutely off the wall. I couldn't believe what happened.

Matt Hardy jumped Edge on Raw, getting without a doubt the largest pop of his life and proving that we were all played. In the best possible way. My god I was jumping up and down screaming in joy at all the internet goodness playing out on my TV. I don't know exactly what's going on and in fact I doubt more than five or six people do, but I do know that what I saw last night put my respect level for Matt Hardy WAY up. The segment was so well done. They teased you before the break, then when coming back and during Edge's entrance you saw them adding more security because they were worried. The camera work was great, I bet they weren't even told it was gonna happen. Vince you motherfucking genius. When security held him down and the cops did a REALish arrest, I damn near pissed myself in joy at the greatness of this segment. How the hell did they get me to mark out for an ARREST SEGMENT! The most overused segment in wrestling and I was giggling uncontrolably in my secret internet knowledge. I don't know who did it, but they figured it out. You can't be content using the foolish regular fans, you have to go the extra step and play the smarks. And my god if they didn't. They'll all watch now because of this brilliant angle. There were no leaks, no idea that this would happen, so we respect that we got played and used and we love it. An unpredictable storyline that even the internet can't figure out. The E is exciting again and I have Matt Hardy to thank.

Oh and there's also the little thing of him YELLING RING OF HONOR on the mic. Oh yeah, hearing the name of my favorite wrestling company on Monday Night Raw made my jaw drop. I assure you we were all cheering like we had personally won that victory.

Here's to Matt Hardy, the man who gets it. I'll tell you something, I'm am DEFINATELY an MFer now.

Wrestler Death... Hashimoto

Man why couldn't someone worthless have died? Like Brock Lesnar or Chris Masters or Lex Lugar or Goldberg or Snizky. Why would it have to be Shinya Hashimoto? Well this is a big one. Former IWGP and Triple Crown champion. One of the Three Muskateers of the 90s alongside Masahiro Chono and Keiji Muto. This man created Zero-One. Master of the brainbuster. And out of nowhere he's dead. Yes you'll laugh because some 'Jap' is dead, or that a big name in wrestling died. But I respect him. For his accomplishments and his performances. Just check him out in the 98 G1 Climax if you have any doubt to his ability. I caught some of those and damn was he impressive.

So heres to Shinya, may he be chillin' with Buddha or whatever.

An odd little tidbit

Y'know, if you search for 'Bryan Danielson' on Yahoo that THIS worthless blog is the first thing that pops up in the search! Seriously what is up with that? I am actually before the actual site of the American Dragon Bryan Danielson. Why? Because I wrote a highly uninformed post about him quitting to become a backpacker or something.

So if by some odd twist of fate you end up here instead of finding anything about Bryan Danielson, too bad. Don't click on frivilous linkage.

To Bryan Danielson if you somehow stumble upon this site due to looking up your own name on Yahoo, I apologize that I somehow usurped you for number 1. And you fucking rule.

Kenta Kobashi in America... CONFIRMED!

Kenta Kobashi will be coming to Ring of Honor... one week AFTER the Boston show. Crap.

I want to go... but the chances seem to be zero. However, stranger things have happened than getting a ride to New York.

KOBASHI vs JOE.
please please please please please.

If you don't know who Kobashi is, I hate you. Period. I want you to die. And there are MANY on the ROH boards that don't think this is impressive at all. I want them to die. Period.

KOBASHI KOBASHI KOBASHI KOBASHI KOBASHI!

Something Doesn't Smell Right

The fired wrestlers are getting interview time on wwe.com. What the hell? The interviews are making them sound like they have nowhere to go and their lives are ruined. Why would the E put something like that up? I think we're being worked. Though probably not.

Charlie Haas in Ring of Honor, please!

Vince Goes Nuts

In the past couple of days the WWE has released some big names. In a move that only shows that Vince is nuts, several popular and skilled wrestlers have been fired. Recently 16, 16!, wrestlers were fired. That is a staggering number. Last year it was all the fodder and it was a smaller number. This year we lost some names.

First and foremost the WWE has fired the Dudley Boyz. Granted I'm not much of a fan, but seriously Vince they were uber popular. I guess you just couldn't afford them. Which is a shame because now more than ever this craphole of a company needs wrestlers that the fans actually know. None of this MNM malarky. Of course I'm under the impression that Vince is firing these people in order to clear up some room to bring back big bad Brock. Worst mistake anyone could make. Fire a bunch of guys who have major respect for the business, and hire back the man who hates everything about wrestling and spit on the company and fans that supported him.

Then we have Spike Dudley. He was always a great opening man, and he had the potential for more but they never let him loose. After reading his words after he was fired, I gained major respect for Mr. 150-pounds-soaking-wet. This man told the truth about the E, not that it was a great place to work but that it sucked out your soul and made you hate the business. Little Spike Dudley in ROH? I hope so.

But perhaps one of the biggest firings in my mind is Charlie Haas. WHY THE DUECE WOULD ANYONE FIRE HAAS? This man is incredibly skilled on the mat, he worked brilliantly in Team Angle and he just had it going on. This man had no reason to be fired, not only that but they fired his wife along with him! The words that appeared on his site after his firing were what excited me though. He said he wants to work in Ring of Honor! YES YES YES YES YES YES! There is NO bad that can come from that. Bryan Danielson vs Charlie Haas anyone? And the weird thing? Everyone on the ROH boards actually wants him to come! They usually hate everyone. Here's to Charlie Haas in ROH, championship material.

A few cruisers were fired as well, which is a really odd way to build up your cruiser division. Billy Kidman, Shannon Moore and Akio were all good and they were recognizable names that people generally liked. So why get rid of them? Because they're the small man and they're eating up Heidenreich's salary. Why have exciting cruisers when you can have an idiot who's always marching and chanting his own name that no one cares about? Akio/Jimmy Yang in ROH? Yes, everyone wants it. Shannon Moore in ROH? Hey why not, team him with Version 1 and give them the tag titles. Billy Kidman in ROH? No thans.

Then there were a bunch of fodder firings. Maven, Gangrel, Jindrak, Mordecai, Kenzo Suzuki + wife, Joy something, Marty Janeatty and Matt Morgan. Pretty unimpressive group, though why keep the OVW guys in development for 3 years only to give them a 1 month run on TV and fire them?

Ah well, that's all for now although I have a feeling that we're not done yet. I have a feeling Tajiri might get axed. According to various sites SOMEONE is getting fired. Someone big.

Tour de France is on

Finally that time of the year has arrived, the Tour de France. I've been waiting for this for quite a time. Why? Because they show cycling every day for 3 weeks! The coverage of the Tour is huge... on the Outdoor Life Network. Nonetheless I thoroughly enjoy every second of coverage as I force myself to wake up early in order to catch the live coverage. I will throw my support behind Lance Armstrong this year, not to be hip. No I've never wanted that. I support Lance Armstrong because he's trying to win his 7th and final Tour. I love records like that, so I hope that he is destined for another one. Go out with a win on top like Inoki, that's the way to do it. The Americans are really kicking ass so far. We have four guys in the top six. But it's only two days in so take that for what it's worth.

Viva Lance! Viva Quebec! Viva Jay Sherman!
